Building literacy skills through dramatic play in the Pre-K classroom requires a balanced approach of play and direct instruction to help young students construct and develop the foundation of literacy skills needed for becoming successful readers and writers. The session will include practical strategies, suggestions, and ideas that can easily be implemented and adapted for Pre-K - 2nd grade classrooms to promote critical literacy skills that will help students develop an awareness of sounds in language, relationship between letters and sounds, expand vocabulary and develop comprehension skills through meaningful leaning experiences.
