Literacy Workstations: the Magic is in the Details

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Students in our classrooms vary greatly in their literacy needs and ability levels. As a result, it is necessary to provide multiple opportunities for students to read, write, participate in meaningful experiences, and collaborate with others so that they can develop their ability to read and comprehend text(s). One structure that can support these varied needs is the use of effective literacy workstations.

This can sometimes be an overwhelming task for educators with everything else we are expected to do in our daily teaching lives. This session will share tried and true practices from three educators who love literacy workstations and the opportunities they provide for students. Participants will leave this session with a set of online resources to use right away. Our secret? The magic of workstations is in the details- organization, management, and authentic tasks that do not require hours of prep time or empty your wallet.
